Job Description
.8 Occupational Therapist Position Summary: The Concord Public School District is seeking a .8 Occupational Therapist to work with students in the Concord Integrated Preschool. The OT works as a member of the special education team providing direct and consultative services for children with disabilities. The OT collaborates with teachers, special educators, other school personnel, and parents to develop and implement individual or group programs, and support classroom activities. Services are provided using an integrated therapy model within the classroom and/or on a pull out basis.
The student population is varied with disabilities including developmental disabilities, ASD, social-emotional, physical, etc. Successful candidate should have extensive knowledge and experience with assistive technology. Successful candidate must have demonstrated success with and be knowledgeable about a variety of interventions for a range of disabilities. Must be willing to co-treat and co-teach.
Successful candidate must have an understanding of the impact of sensory systems on learning and self-regulation, as well as be familiar with current interventions to support sensory regulation both in and outside of the classroom setting. We are looking for a candidate who is familiar with neurodiversity affirming practice and willing to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. In addition to direct student services, the Occupational Therapist is responsible for the testing and evaluation of students initially referred or for three-year reevaluations for preschool students, The OT will also evaluate students in Out of District programs who require such evaluations. Candidate must have training and experience with the administration and interpretation of a wide range of assessments and evaluation tools.Key Duties and Responsibilities: Plan for the effective specialized instruction and intervention for students on IEPs within and outside the preschool classroom;Administer formal diagnostic assessments and tests for students initially referred and for three-year reevaluations of students;Administer ongoing progress monitoring, strategic monitoring and benchmark systems; Write comprehensive progress reports and IEPsCollaborate with preschool teachers and other related service staff with respect to appropriate services, accommodations and modifications;Provide ongoing positive communication with parents;Collect and analyze student performance data against IEP goals Qualifications: Licensure as an Occupational Therapist through the MA Board of Allied Health Professions, Division of Professional Licensure and National OTR/L Certification requiredKnowledge of technologies and adaptive equipment Successful public school experience as an Occupational TherapistKnowledge of research-based practices and interventions to address student needsExperience with and commitment to inclusion that benefits students academically and social/emotionally Excellent oral and written communication skills requiredRequires travel for out of district evaluationsMust be able to lift 50-80 lbs.
