Duties & Responsibilities:(Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)


  • Understands the use of formative assessments to influence instruction and research-based strategies to use in all content areas
  • Has knowledge of and adheres to the Davenport Teaching and Learning plan in all areas of instruction
  • Is familiar with the literacy model and incorporates guided reading and writing into the daily schedule.
  • Knowledgeable of Daily 5 and CAFÉ literacy management tools
  • Has had experience and supports the PBIS Model and the Davenport Way
  • Perform supervision responsibilities with a belief that all teachers are on duty at all times everywhere in the school environment including AM/PM duty, hall and restroom duties.
  • Must be knowledgeable in MTSS and CTT initiatives and work to implement in classroom and school wide
  • Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
  • Is enthusiastic and eager to work with at-risk and special education students in an inclusive program model
  • Is willing to share and effectively work as a member of a team, planning lessons together, monitoring progress and making modifications as needs of students are identified.
  • Establishes and maintains high standards of pupil behavior to achieve a learning atmosphere in the classroom while respecting the dignity of students
  • Encourage parental involvement and communicate regularly with parents.
  • Prepare students to meet district grade level standards.
  • Is willing to collaborate and co-teach with special education teachers/Para-educators in an environment that welcomes all students.
  • Is knowledgeable in research regarding strategies for working with all kinds of students in the area of brain compatible classrooms and concept- based instruction.
  • Participates in IEP development, work meetings, and parent conferences.
