Job Description
  • The hourly range for this position is $22.22 - $40.68 per hour. Pay will be commensurate with previous Full Time parallel years of experience.
  • Transports students from/to different educational settings through (e.g. lifting, physically restraining, escorting, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring they are not impulsively run into an unsafe environment
  • Implements therapeutic activities and instructs students, teachers, parents and other involved persons (e.g. positioning, adjusting special equipment, etc.) for the purpose of providing appropriate care to students and/or supporting the student's IEP plan.
  • ?Attends and participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. training, team meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information and meeting the program guidelines
  • Assists in various occupational therapy services to students according to IEP goals (e.g. program development, activities development, students' fine motor and development skills assessment, test administration, student observation, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing student motor skills and ensuring compliance with established practices and procedures and IEP goals
  • Moves a variety of items to/from school settings (e.g. puzzles, games, swings, assistive devices, assessment tools, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required for therapy sessions.
  • Performs other related duties as needed for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the special education students to benefit from their educational experiences.
  • Consults with Occupational Therapist and teachers for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services, making recommendations and/or coordinating occupational therapy services with those of other disciplines.
  • Communicates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g. supervising Occupational Therapist, parents, teachers, physicians, administration, maintenance personnel, team members, other professionals, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providing services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Maintains occupational therapy room in order and maintains treatment equipment and supplies (e.g. swings, balls, puzzles, etc.) for the purpose of implementing motor/therapy goals.
  • Provides training and instruction to teachers and parents on the use of assistive devices for the purpose of ensuring such devices are used safely and optimal benefits are achieved.
  • Observes student behaviors informally at multiple school sites including home visits for the purpose of collecting information for Occupational Therapist for further diagnosis.
  • Adapts equipment (e.g. seating, tables, desks, computer hardware, etc.) for the purpose of providing optimal positioning and increased independence for special education students.
  • This job reports to Occupational Therapist
  • Communicates with occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapist, teachers, class assistants, families, etc. for the purpose of providing requested information, reviewing/revising students' occupational therapy goals/objectives, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations.
  • Organizes and maintains program files and/or records systematically (e.g. progress reports, billings, activity logs, treatment plans, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or ensuring up-to-date document system is accountable to federal, state and local special education policies
  • This is a Full Time, benefit eligible position (181 day agreement, 7.0 hrs per day)
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. activity logs, progress notes, reports, memos, Medicaid billings, time studies, summer activities packets, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Researches resources and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, Assistive Technology, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of suggesting the appropriate strategies to implement to Occupational Therapist and addressing students' functional goals.
