Notifies Receiving Manager, Shipping Manager and/or Transportation of all potential problems.

Transports trailers in a timely and safe manner.

Keeps a constant supply of trailers to the Just-In-Time, Shipping and Receiving departments.

Monitors the flow of trailers and traffic on the yard.

Organizes the yard as to loaded, inbound, empty and identifies all trailers.

Communicates with Carrier drivers as to proper location to drop loaded and empty trailers.

Participate in training programs; maintain and update safety skills and knowledge; keep current with hazardous material training requirements.

Competitive pay based on experience

When hauling hazardous material, verify the hazardous material product description, determine any discrepancies in the paperwork, and verify proper placarding.

Fuel equipment and perform safety inspections on the equipment.

Connect air hoses and electrical lines, install and remove tire chains, and manually crank dolly wheels.

Drop and hook trailer(s) and change the configuration of equipment as necessary.

Basic reading, writing, and math skills

Previous flatbed or tractor trailer truck driving experience preferred

The overall responsibilities of a Yard Truck Driver include:

Attach and detach trailers from switcher cab

Actively participate in company safety and observation programs

Possess or able to acquire and maintain a fork lift certification

Able to perform basic math skills such as add, subtract, multiply, and divide

Move loaded and empty trailers to and from receiving dock doors. Spots empty trailers to shipping dock doors for outbound loads.

Move product to and from other locations as needed.

Use computer system to update trailer movement and status in yard.

Maintain daily logs and documentation.

Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area and warehouse, performs other tasks including pallet building as determined and requested by management

Knowledge acquired through 3 to up to 5 years of work experience

PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Certification: Pallet Jack, Forklift, Double Forklift, Hy-jaws, Ty-Guard, Triple-Double, and Switch Tractor, Scrubber.

2 years of education beyond high school in college or technical school

Pay Range: $23 - $25, depending on experience

2 years’ experience driving a yard truck and semi-truck is preferred (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)

Ability to plan and manage time efficiently

Position requires using a yard truck to move semi-trailers and backing them into designated loading docks and parking areas

It requires being able to physically climb in and out of the yard truck numerous times during a scheduled shift

It requires work performed outside and therefore requires working in extreme hot and cold temperatures

The Team Member must be willing to complete all required training for the job and perform any other duties as assigned

Good oral communications and basic math skills.

Fork lift certification preferred but not required

Responsible for receiving and dispersing supplies in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and or shelves by hand.

Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand- truck, dolly, or other yard devices

Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage while in transit

Performed additional duties as assigned

Yard Truck and City Driver

R & J Trucking, Inc. is looking for a Yard Jockey Switcher at the the following locations;

Oberlin Landfill at $22 dollars per hour working 6:30am to 4:30pm.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Read and understand the schedule and have trucks moved to satisfy customer’s delivery requirements.

Candidate must have at least six months of truck driving experience.

Use an 18-wheeler cab to move dressed axle front & rear products for Freightliner.

Following all site safety rules and safe operating practices.

Adhering to all work instructions and completing all quality checks as defined in the control plans.

Meeting all site attendance expectations.
