Prior experience in the construction field as a laborer or its equivalent is required

Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within general labor and construction is required

This is a seasonal summer position working full-time hours.

This position is non-exempt; the range above reflects hourly rates.

Entry level position; some related experience and/or training preferred, “On the Job Training provided”

Experience working in a warehouse environment preferred

Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and possess basic mathematical skills (preferred)

Performs regular warehouse duties to include product storage & product staging

Uses a forklift to transport inbound products for storage and outbound products for delivery

Organizes products in accordance with local procedures

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :

Experience performing general agricultural work.

Skill and ability to collect grapevine and other plant material to department specifications.

Knowledge to prune field crops.

Skills to follow oral and written instructions.

Help maintain research orchards- this may include removing rootsuckers, hoeing weeds, watering, summer pruning, etc.

Must be 16 years or older and able to drive.

Must be able to work outdoors in warm or otherwise inclement weather.

Must be able to work productively without direct supervision.

Seasonal labor helping in efforts on the Kaysville Research Farm primarily in apple, peach, and cherry orchards.

Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.

Loads materials into vehicles to prevent shifting or damage in transit.

Conveys materials from storage sites to designated loading area.

Counts and records number of units of materials moved or handled, breakage and spoilage on appropriate sheets.

Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases and other containers.

Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and wraps bundles together.

Ability to multitask, strong organizational and time management skills.

Collaboration with Horticulture Specialist/Farm Manager and VSDB educational staff to carry out educational lessons on the farm and/or in the greenhouse.

Prefer experience working with and teaching students of varying ages, abilities and disabilities.

Occasional assistance with educational workshops and events for community, special groups, VSDB students and staff, or other interested parties.

Experience in landscaping, gardening, or farming in either professional or internship role.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
