Isa Certified Arborist Jobs

No minimum years of experience required.

15% Controls weed growth in shrubbery and around tree bases and applies appropriate herbicides and calibrates equipment involved

15% Installs, maintains, and propagates campus and nursery plantings and utilizes power equipment and/or hand tools when necessary

20% Removes dead, hazardous, and storm damaged trees from campus and operates related equipment

15% Performs general campus maintenance activities

10% Performs all necessary snow removal duties in the winter

Be able to communicate effectively with clients and management to build and maintain excellent customer relations

No experience in tree work necessary

Be willing and able to become an ISA Certified Arborist within 6 months of employment

Be willing to continue learning

Be willing and able to become an Openlands certified TreeKeeper within the first 12 months of employment

Have the appropriate IL Pesticide Applicator License, or willingness to obtain

Multi-tasking and strong time management skills required

Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite

Experience working with GIS integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required

Candidate must be able to work with stakeholders, utility customers and line clearance vendors and have excellent interpersonal skills

Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills

At least 3 years horticulture experience

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

2 years guest service experience preferred

Create and maintain various reports as requested by the department

Perform diverse horticultural, grounds keeping and greenhouse tasks, such as watering, weeding, planting, transplanting, pruning, mulching, and mowing

Provide supervision and training of ambassadors in carrying out grounds keeping operations and provide performance feedback, counseling, and developmental discussions
