Experience writing technical papers and an ability to adapt to Navy-prescribed formats and styles.

Knowledge of Navy shipboard and submarine systems, and DOD acquisition programs, preferred.

A current or active Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain a clearance via sponsorship.

Collaborate with vendors on qualification and property development of custom-manufactured forgings and castings

Experience with metal joining technologies (welding, brazing, soldering, sintering)

1+ years of professional experience with metal-joining technologies (welding, brazing, soldering, sintering)

1+ years of professional experience with aluminum alloys used for structural and non-structural applications

Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with enthusiasm for the team’s spirit of innovation in cutting-edge technology

Experience with technical review of material processes and a first principles understanding of how process variables impact material performance

Solid understanding and hands-on experience in SEM-EDX (Scanning Electron Microscopy - Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis) techniques.

Experience in sample preparation such as cross-sectioning, mechanical/chemical polishing, and/or ion milling.

Experience in other material analysis techniques such as XRD, XRF, TEM, and/or XPS is a plus, but not required.

Experience working in a chemistry lab environment.

Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office.

Responsible for new material/process studies to understand characteristic impact, testing requirements, investment review and material allocations

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Material or Chemical Engineering, Chemist Preferred); or equivalent relevant experience

5-10 years of relevant engineering work experience (focused on the Material category)

Strong verbal and written skills to communicate effectively both with customers and internal project teams

Minimum 1 year experience working in a laboratory performing titrations and report Nickel Plated analysis

Excellent technical report writing skills

Meet and interact with customers to define evaluation processes and techniques

Write procedures that describe test and evaluation methods

Review existing procedures for accuracy and update when needed

Experience with aluminum machining concepts and related tooling

CMM experience as a user and can interpret CMM results

Industrial experience in a field with a R&D component transitioning to manufacturing is desired.

Experience in ceramics materials application and processing preferred

Comprehensive knowledge of ceramic materials, processes, and processing equipment

Designs custom equipment, tools, fixtures, and supporting apparatus to improve manufacturing production rates, yields, cost, and quality

Develop and maintain manufacturing drawings, procedures, work instructions, and other quality control documentation

Evaluates and troubleshoots manufacturing or quality issues using designed experiments, structured root cause and problem-solving techniques
