Overview Autism Behavior Support is a specialized field of work that focuses on providing support to individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This support can include providing guidance and assistance to individuals with ASD in order to help them develop skills and behaviors that are necessary for successful functioning in everyday life. Detailed Job Description Autism Behavior Support professionals work with individuals with ASD to help them develop and maintain positive behaviors and social skills. This includes providing guidance and assistance in areas such as communication, self-care, problem solving, and social interaction. Autism Behavior Support professionals also provide support to families and caregivers of individuals with ASD, helping them to better understand and manage the behaviors of their loved ones. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and its associated behaviors
• Ability to develop and implement behavior support plans
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience and understanding
• Ability to work with individuals of all ages
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, special education, or a related field
• Master’s degree in psychology, special education, or a related field
• Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• Licensure as a behavior analyst
• Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and its associated behaviors
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques
• Knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Knowledge of the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Job Experience
• Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder
• Experience developing and implementing behavior support plans
• Experience working with families and caregivers of individuals with ASD
• Experience working with individuals of all ages
Job Responsibilities
• Develop and implement behavior support plans
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of individuals with ASD
• Provide guidance and assistance to individuals with ASD
• Provide support to families and caregivers of individuals with ASD
• Collaborate with other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for individuals with ASD
• Educate individuals, families, and caregivers about autism spectrum disorder
• Maintain accurate records of behavior support
