Offer insights to improve the accuracy, stability, and timeliness of core actuarial processes

Expand insurance and/or actuarial knowledge through some combination of exams, industry periodicals, self-study etc.

With general guidance, leverage knowledge of pricing best practices to produce analyses leading to improvements in the rate level indications

College degree with significant course work in a quantitative field such as math, statistics; or actuarial science experience

3+ years of relevant work experience strongly preferred

Meets requirements for Humana's Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Successful completion of at least 3 actuarial exams

Strong computer skills, including experience in Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge or training in one or more computer programming languages. SAS, SQL, and/or VBA experience is helpful.

2-5 years of substantial experience supporting health actuarial functions

Monthly loss reporting data, analysis and presentation updates/roll-forwards

Quarterly IBNR data collection, calculation and analyses

Technical reviews of model/tool-development prototypes

Our partnering with Data Science in the machine-learning model/tool-development process

3+ years of experience as an actuarial analyst or quantitative pricing analyst, or related experience; Property & Casualty experience preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field, or the equivalent in related work experience

Maintain and enhance in force management reports to track and analyze experience to inform management decisions and enhance pricing methodology.

Provide key support to the in-force management of Group Life mortality results.

Strong creative analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze data and model results.

Intellectual curiosity and the drive to learn Group’s products, business, industry practices, relevant technical skills, and insurance actuarial pricing principles.

Strong documentation and organizational skills with attention to detail.

Strong academic record in a four-year degree program in Actuarial Science, Math, Finance or related field.

Support risk analyses of the company's actuarial liabilities and capital position to ensure adequate reserving and financial strength.

Perform valuations of actuarial reserves and liabilities.

Technical skills, e.g. Excel, VBA, and PowerPoint

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Perform asset adequacy testing, asset and liability modeling and analyses of life insurance and annuity products.

GPA of 3.0 or higher

No previous professional actuarial experience required but typically has obtained broad theoretical job knowledge through advanced education

Requires a bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or related discipline or equivalent business experience

Produce timely various standard analytic reports for internal and/or external use

Study for exams towards credentials

Typically, has completed 1 to 2 courses towards the eventual attainment of the Associate, Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation

In this role, you will:

Analytical experience in Insurance or similar industry preferred.

Experience in SQL, Python, and PowerBI is a plus.

Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into simple and actionable recommendations.

Bachelor’s degree in quantitative disciplines such as Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or equivalent; Graduate degree preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), SAS and VBA.
