They must be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, as well as follow safety protocols. They must be able to measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe, as well as install valves, fittings, and other components. They must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with existing systems, as well as install new systems. They must be able to work with a variety of materials, including copper, steel, and plastic.
