Job Description
General Purpose

Youth Soccer Referee works in cooperation with the site director carrying out specific program activities, primarily refereeing soccer games for grades K-6. Must be available on Sunday afternoons, from 12-5 pm, from September 10 – October 15.


Essential Job Functions

  • Fair and courteous treatment of all participants, coaches, and spectators.
  • Inspect sporting equipment and/or examine participants in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Confer with other referees, coaches, players, and staff in order to provide information and discuss any issues or concerns.
  • Officiate games to maintain standards of play and to ensure that game rules are observed.
  • Follow all departmental rules and regulations.
  • Communicate with participants, volunteers, referees, and other staff in a professional manner.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements

  • Possess full knowledge of soccer rules and regulations.
  • Follow all departmental rules and regulations.
  • Have an eye for detail and possess strong verbal communication, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
  • Must be able to effectively enforce rules.
  • Must be at least 15 years old.
  • Ability to understand and comply with City standards, safety rules, and personnel policies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
  • At least one year of related work experience preferred.
  • Ability to work weekends as required.
  • Maintain an appropriate and professional demeanor at all times.
