GeneralDuties
The Radiology Technologist plans and performs all radiology care for patients who will undergo surgery and other invasive procedures. The Radiology Technologist works by collaborating with other members of the team including the anesthesiologist, surgeon, surgical nurse, surgical technologist, surgical assistant, and other personnel. They render expert pre-, intra- and post-operative radiology service. General duties include but are not limited to:
Assesses, plans and evaluates the radiology care needs of the patient before, during and after a surgical procedure.
Provides radiology care to the patient undergoing surgical procedures.
Operates imaging equipment on patients as ordered by the surgeon.
Participates in the care of patients receiving conscious sedation.
Carries out physician orders.
Assists physician during procedures.
Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to function safely and effectively in a surgical environment.
Knowledge of standard radiology equipment used in the operating room.
Thorough knowledge of radiologic technology, the scientific principles behind the work and also recognizing the human elements involved.
Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions.
In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures.
Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
Ability to think critically and problem solve, making rational and appropriate decisions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to interact with patients and family in such a manner as to inspire confidence and gain patient’s cooperation.
A great team player with excellent communication skills.
Ability to effectively send, receive and respond to information effectively in English; including the ability to read, write, listen, speak observe and use computers.

Availability to work shifts that rotate between days, evenings.
Occasional overtime. Must handle stress in meeting time demands.
Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
Maintains integrity of shielding equipment (aprons, etc.).
Maintains radiologic equipment, machines and supplies, and required documentation.
Provide oversight of facility radiologic services in accordance with applicable state regulation and/or CMS regulations
Ensure use of safety precautions (shielding, and appropriate storage, use and disposal of radioactive materials) against radiation hazards
Regular equipment inspection and hazard correction.
Regular review of radiation worker radiation exposure.
Assures use of radiologic equipment only by qualified personnel.
Maintenance of imaging results or records.
Demonstrates a willingness to look at new ideas and work in a changing environment.
Understands, verbalizes and participates in the quality improvement process.
Supports initiatives designed to improve individual and organizational performance
Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of radiology technologist and holds current licensure as a Radiological Technologist in the State of Nevada.
Certification preferred.
One + years as a radiological technologist with OR experience preferred.
