POSITION: Wind Energy Technician Instructor & Turbine Technician

LOCATION: Devils Lake, ND

WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED: Must be eligible to work in the United States. There is no sponsorship for this position.

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: This is a full time, 12 months, benefited position.

BACKGROUND CHECK: LRSC does require a successful background check for the selected candidate prior to beginning employment.

JOB SUMMARY: Lake Region State College is accepting applications for a Wind Energy Technician Instructor and Turbine Technician. Responsibilities include teaching all program courses within the Lake Region State College Wind Energy Technician Program. Successful applicant will have the ability to climb, work and teach students at heights up to 350 feet within a wind turbine; must be able to lift to 50 pounds on a regular basis; ability to work and teach outside in all seasons; may require extended overnight travel to fulfill workforce training support; and requires a valid drivers’ license.

Duties include teaching fundamental and advanced hydraulic theory with the practical application of that theory in a laboratory setting; mechanical systems units within the Wind Energy Technician program courses; workplace safety standards; electrical theory, motor and generator theory, PLC, practical motor control; and inventory control methods. This instructor will also provide workforce training in electrical, fluid power theory and practical application as well as workplace standards to student groups within the wind industry. Assist in the development of other courses with the intent to teach the use of specific industry tools such as, but not limited to, hand tools, an underground power line locator, bore scopes, torque and tension tools and heavy equipment and warehouse vehicles such as front-end loaders, forklifts and skid steer loaders.

This person will also be the lead technician for LRSC’s wind turbine.

Minimum Requirements: Requires an AAS Degree in wind energy or related field and/or a combination of education and experience sufficient for the position. Must be eligible to obtain a career and technical education teaching credential.

SALARY: $80,000 - $100,000 depending on experience
