Watch Engineer Jobs

Job Overview:

Under general supervision, the Watch Engineer performs the operation and maintenance of boiler and related power plant equipment such as steam engines, air compressors and engines to provide steam, electric power and auxiliary services. Inspects and performs maintenance and repairs on HVAC, refrigeration equipment, boiler and engines. Performs related duties as required.

Observes meters, gauges to determine operating condition of equipment and to regulate the flow of water and fuel in accordance with needs and safety standards.

Determines the necessary repairs and may dispatch other Engineering staff to perform repairs. Performs routine maintenance activity on refrigeration, HVAC systems or boilers. May prepare written requests for repairs. Maintains clean work area.

Responds to mechanical emergencies during night and evening shifts.

Requirements:

• Ability to read and write and comprehend English.
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar field
• Minimum High School Diploma/GED
• Diesel engine experience a plus.
• Possession of a valid NYC Watch Engineer's license and refrigeration license.
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic and ability to perform calculations in the operation and control of power plant equipment.
• Knowledge of principals and procedures of operating stationary engines and boilers.
• Completion of trade apprenticeship program.
