Frontier-Kemper Constructors, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction and underground construction in North America and Canada, is seeking Walkers to work at our Blue Creek Project near Berry, AL.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Superintendent, or Assistant Superintendent, the Walker supervises the activities of a field crew engaged in the construction of underground shafts, tunnels, slopes and associated structures.
Normal Activities Include

• Directing the set-up and operation of drilling and excavation equipment.
• Ensuring that the work is performed safely and in compliance with the approved sinking plan and all applicable regulations.
• Directing the installation of temporary and permanent roof and rib support.
• Monitoring and mitigating hazardous conditions and unsafe working practices.
• Conducting safety meetings and accurately completing time sheets, shift reports, and production reports.
• Directing the layout, drilling, loading, timing and detonation of blast holes.

Qualifications

• Understanding of and compliance with company and government agencies' regulations, policies, and procedures.
• AL Foremen a plus
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in shaft and slope construction.
• Basic math skills.
• Must be eligible to obtain an Employee Possessor Permit from Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, applicable State and Federal Mining Certifications is required..
