VPK Lead Teacher


QUALIFICATIONS

Holds a valid Tennessee teaching license; Experience as a classroom teacher required; Meets health and physical requirements.


JOB GOAL

To manage, evaluate, and provide system-wide support for the Pre-Kindergarten program and parent/family involvement.

Elementary Supervisor

SCHEDULE 260 Days


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists with the organization and preparation of local, federal and state reports, including the voluntary Pre-K and grant applications, and other correspondence as required by the Tennessee Department of Education.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled departmental meetings as required.
  • Provides support to teachers in their classrooms through coaching, modeling, and mentoring.
  • Communicates and monitors state expectations with program staff, school staff, principals, and parents.
  • Schedules and conducts child find activities.
  • Maintains and adheres to a calendar of deadlines.
  • Attend conferences/staff development sessions for professional growth; and
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Conducts classroom visits and provides actionable feedback.
  • Attends work regularly and on time.
  • Builds and maintains positive professional communication with program staff, school staff, principals, parents, and local and state early education and literacy agencies.
  • Coordinates required program components within the state and local policies, performance standards, and rules and regulations.
  • Assists Pre-K teachers with improving techniques for instruction and improving overall student achievement; provides instructional strategies and various tools to aid the instructional process.
  • Ensures teachers and principals are familiar with any changes in curriculum, instruction and assessment, or other state mandated pre-kindergarten requirements; designs curriculum and new course offerings.
  • Collaborates with other curriculum leaders and academic coaches to provide an integrated program.
  • Assists the school system with the acquisition of appropriate Pre-K instructional materials and equipment.
  • Coordinates and provides professional development opportunities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting or carrying of objects that exceed fifty (50) pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:
