About Atlis Motor Vehicles


Atlis Motor Vehicles was born in CEO Mark Hanchett's garage, ignited by curiosity and personal motivation. Mark's goal: take his energy-guzzling diesel pickup and convert it into an electric truck. He leveraged his engineering background and brought in colleagues who are experts in various fields—power tech, batteries, automotive dynamics, etc.—to design a solution that solves the biggest pain points in the electric vehicle market today.

Key Responsibilities


  • Participate in long-term strategic and operational planning, working closely with the CEO, President and key stakeholders to guide the direction of the product.
  • Foster a strong technical culture that rewards transparency, experimentation, and innovation and is focused on serving the customer rather than merely the company's success.
  • Forecast & maintain budget targets (cloud, people, licenses, etc.) and productivity of technical resources. Establish, define and track metrics and monitor progress to ensure that objectives are achieved in software development and technical operations.
  • Build and lead a world-class Engineering organization consisting of engineering teams in software, hardware and vehicle development. Design and execute a strategic plan for developing and empowering teams with process disciplines that optimize production quality and drive development efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Set the overall vision and direct the strategic plan for the engineering organization, focusing on architecture and development strategies and business objectives.


Ideally, You Have Experience With


  • Deep knowledge and experience leading cloud-based development in a high-growth company.
  • Experience effectively managing time between hands-on problem solving and big-picture planning.
  • You are a builder and not afraid to get into the weeds and contribute to engineering efforts. All leaders, including senior leadership, are not here to just tell people what to do. They are here to get stuff done.
  • Deep technical hands-on experience in technology enabled services or self-service software solutions.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and assess their strengths and weaknesses from both a technical and business viability perspective.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven track record of building world class engineering teams
  • Outstanding verbal, written, organizational and project management skills. You must be capable of clearly communicating technical tasks and challenges to non-technical team members and external customers.
  • 10+ years of experience leading successful technology/engineering organizations at scale.
  • High tolerance to ambiguity and ability to make progress in the face of it.
  • Experience leading technology projects across different time zones, languages, and engineering teams in multiple locations.
  • Proven ability to build software from the ground up, optimize mature products, and balance short-term and long-term technology investments across a portfolio of products and services.
  • You must have a breadth of experience and exposure across engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in research and technology incubation.
  • You must have a demonstrated history of leading product development programs from concept to end of life.

  • Has previous C-level experience, preferred
  • Is an Exceptional Leader with ability to empower engineering teams, and the experience to know when to make the tough decisions to ensure a culture of excellence.

  • Has startup experience with building teams and developing technology from concept or idea stage to full operating organization and product production.
