Job Description
The position is located in Host Country Affairs Office, United States Mission to the United Nations. The Office of Host Country Affairs assures that the obligations of the United States to the United Nations Organization and to the UN community in New York are upheld.
  • Responds to telephone and written inquiries from U.S. Missions. Drafts and coordinates responses to visa matters affecting the U.S. community or visa and immigration inquiries addressed to the U.S. Representative to the United Nations.
  • Discusses eligibility and requirements visas and visa status for secondary dependent status of U.S. Mission members with Mission personnel and applicants.
  • Ensures the prompt and orderly issuance of official U.S. visas to diplomatic and non-diplomatic members of the UN community after verifying their eligibility. Monitors the processing of changes of visa status for all members of the UN community.
  • Verifies eligibility on conversion from diplomatic status to another non-immigrant status, to permanent resident status or, when it is in the best interest of the USG, to political asylum status.
Travel Required: Occasional Travel
