Videographer


Position Summary

The Videographer, reporting to the Director, Social Media & Engagement, is responsible for shooting and editing video across Stony Brook Medicine. As such, the videographer will produce multimedia content designed for cross-platform integration to support SBM's brand pillars and mission. The videographer will not only shoot and edit video from a technical standpoint, but they must also have the ability to craft a narrative and tell a story. This position will fulfill both internal and external marketing needs.


Duties of the Videographer may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Shoot and edit video across Stony Brook Medicine, ensuring customization and optimization (sizing/format, style, look, feel, length, etc.) on various mediums, including but not limited to social media, mobile, desktop, in-person events, etc.
  • Shoot in various styles and settings, such as b-roll, sit-down interviews, live events, livestreams/podcasts, social-first videos and more; in-studio and on location.
  • Work with the Director, Social Media and Engagement, to manage and prioritize video requests.
  • Spearhead video production from concept, planning and shooting all the way through to editing in post-production and seeking necessary approvals for a given project.
  • Using the latest video trends and functionalities, consistently come up with new ways to elevate SBM’s video production.
  • Cover events in real-time as needed (commencement, white coat ceremony, check presentations, patient discharges, etc).
  • Provide quarterly reporting and one large yearly report outlining projects worked on and overall performance of videos produced.
  • Stay up-to-date on video and industry trends via research, conferences, networking and vendor discussions.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. At least 5 years of experience professionally shooting and editing video for a business or organization. Proficiency with professional camera equipment and editing software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro). Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously; ability to work on tight deadlines and fulfill last-minute video requests; takes the initiative to think of new video opportunities; strong storytelling abilities.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $66,000 - $74,250.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

In addition, all full time UUP positions have a $3,026 location pay.
