Basic Purpose
The processing of public information requests including the redaction of portions of dashcam videos, bodycam videos, as well as audio recordings. Additionally, the creation of videos in support of the various entities of the Department of Public Safety.
Typical Functions
  • Redaction of private information and graphic content from recorded video and audio files using supplied video editing software using personal computers.
  • Duplication of videos using supplied equipment.
  • Clerical work involved with processing public information requests including records keeping and mailing.
  • Working closely with the Legal Department, Public Information Department, and Law Enforcement Department in creation of videos.
  • Working closely with members of the Dashcam Production Unit to complete tasks assigned to the unit.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
The ability to communicate and work effectively within a group dynamic is required. Knowledge of Windows based Adobe Creative Cloud software as well Microsoft Office software including Outlook and Word are required. The ability to view and work with video and or images of a graphic or violent nature that some may find disturbing, or upsetting is required. Additional abilities required include being able to follow direction, self-start, shift between projects, prioritize, and to follow through to completion of projects quickly and efficiently.
Education and Experience
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelors degree in mass communications, journalism, or a closely related field plus two additional years of qualifying experience in video production; or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one additional year of experience in video production or video script writing for each year of the required education plus two additional years of qualifying experience in video production.

The Department of Public Safety has determined that some positions in this job family are safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8.
