Veterinary Technician/Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs departmental housekeeping duties.*
  • Maintains client educational material in an efficient manner.*
  • Placing catheters and performing blood draws.*
  • Administering medications to patients as needed.*
  • Takes medical histories and vital signs of patients.*
  • Takes, processes and logs prescription refills in-house.*
  • Admits and discharges patients.*
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Checks patient medical records for past histories, enters in computer and files.
  • Restraining and assisting the doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia procedures.*
  • Monitoring hospital patients and logging vital signs.*
  • Denotes an Essential Function

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee must be able to multi-task, have good communication skills, a positive attitude, a quick learner, and be dependable and punctual. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Registered Veterinary Technicians in Louisiana are preferred, not necessarily required. We are open and willing to train the right candidate.
