Job Description

We are seeking a PRN Vascular Access Nurse for The Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.

The Vascular Access Nurses independently place PICC and midline catheters with the Arrow Vein Positioning System "Blue Bullseye" and Bard Sherlock positioning device. The Vascular Access Nurse places lines in both the adult and pediatric populations. The Vascular Access Team places an average of 350 lines per month.

Candidates for this position must have experience placing PICC (peripherally inserted central catheters) lines.

*Requirements :
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience assessing and placing peripheral access including Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC), Midline Catheters, and Peripheral IV's

  • Education: BSN or MSN or if Associates Degree RN-within 6 months of start date, meet with nurse leader and:
  • Complete BSN within 24 months of start date
  • Identify which Accredited School the employee plans to attend
  • Submit a review of transcript from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses
  • Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date

  • Exceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required
  • RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN
  • Board Certification in Vascular Access (VA-BC) within 1 year of release from orientation.
  • Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills required
