Job Description
Lacy Landers Center is now accepting applications for part time Van Drivers in Little Rock. Must be 21 years or older and have a High School Diploma or GED. Must be able to pass drug test and criminal background checks. EOE/M/F


Pay: $13.00per hour


Schedule: 5:45-8:00am / 2:45-5:00pm (split shift)


Job Summary: The Van Driver ensures the safe delivery of Clients by performing the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned.


  • Driver will report all concerns and/or parent complaints to the transportation manager
  • Daily transportation/trip sheets are required for each route. They must have the driver's and rider's signature, date, beginning mileage, and ending mileage.
  • Drivers will drive the speed limit and stop at all railroad crossings, drivers will focus on the road at all times. The radio is not allowed nor is talking on a cell phone while driving.
  • Daily, check the transportation log at the front desk for any transportation changes.
  • Will follow transportation policies and procedures specific to Lacy Landers.
  • Responsible for the safety of the children during transportation to and from school. Children must be secured in the appropriate seats based upon age and must remain seated at all times.
  • Vehicles must be gassed up prior to or after delivery of children in the morning
  • Ensure parent/guardian signs each child on and off the bus/van.
  • Advise parents/guardians to report any transportation concerns and/or changes to the Transportation Manager.
  • Drivers will sign off on trip sheet signifying all children are off the vehicle after parking the vehicle.
  • Drivers must check the mail box in the transportation department for mail to be sent to parents/guardians.
  • All vehicles must be kept clean. There can be no trash left on the vehicle.
  • Drivers will also keep up with children's personal belongings, once they are on the bus.
  • Drivers, with rider's assistance, will do pre and post trip inspections.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR/First Aid and Arkansas Driver's License.


Safety Sensitive Position: This is a safety sensitive position as it involves operating a motor vehicle as part of the job duties and a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death to the consumers being transported. See Ark. Const. Amend. 98 2(25). All positions classified as safety must refrain from reporting to work or being subject to duty while their ability to perform job duties is impaired due to the use of alcohol or other drugs. All positions classified as safety sensitive are prohibited from testing positive for metabolites of substances that are listed in the schedules of the Federal Controlled Substances Act and the Arkansas Uniform Controlled Substances Act, regardless of whether the employee possesses a medical marijuana registry identification card. See id. at 3(f)(3)(B)(iii). This policy applies during all work hours, whenever conducting business for AEDD.


Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is reguarly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and smell. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
