Summary:
Responsible to drive and operate vac trucks and tanker trailers at specified job site locations. Operators must adhere to and maintain strict compliance with corporate/office policies and procedures, established health and safety protocols, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor and secure all equipment, hoses, and fittings while loading, unloading and en-route.
- Select gear such as camlocks, hoses, fittings, hose plugs/caps & straps required to load, offload, transfer or transport fluids as needed.
- Resolves disputes and helps in solving personnel and operational issues.
- Provides leadership and ensures safety training and practices.
- Drive/transport fluids to and from job sites.
- Obtain permits for oversize loads.
- Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces.
- Drive and operate liquid vacuum equipment.
- Help identify hazardous conditions on the job site.
- Load fluids and offload fluids from vacuum truck/trailer units.
Other Tasks:
- Assist other shop and operations staff as requested.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
- Assist others drivers/operators as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably able to perform other tasks satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
Minimum:
- One year of job related experience.
- Hilcorp Alaska’s Kenai G&I Facility Training
- Familiarity with vacuum truck operations
- Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver license with tanker endorsement.
- Familiarity with driving industrial trucks and various construction equipment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- OSHA 10hr. Training.
- Two years vocational training in trucking or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of load permits and state and federal truck driving regulations.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
- Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others.
- Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
- Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply first aid.
- Ability to assess and troubleshoot equipment failure.
- Knowledge of fluid transfers to, and from specified vacuum units
- Ability to drive construction equipment for axle loading and unloading purposes.
- Ability to see and record written data and information.
- Ability to wear protective clothing
- Knowledge of and ability maintain equipment and follow related procedures.
- Ability to operate a commercial truck.
- Ability to meet delivery and/or project schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand.
- Knowledge of and ability to safely secure loads for transport.
