Job Description

SUMMARY

The Used Car Buyer will have a primary responsibility of executing a process which involves prospecting, appraising, and presenting offers to current vehicle owners with the goal of purchasing their vehicles from multiple sources for resale.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following.

  • Understand and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Interact well with others and be a positive influence on associate and guest morale.
  • Interfaces with current used vehicle owners from multiple resources with the purpose of purchasing their vehicle.
  • Maintains a prospect development system of current used vehicle prospects and schedules appointments to appraise and purchase used vehicles.
  • Understand market trends and changes to trends in geographic market
  • Exhibits high level of commitment to guest satisfaction.
  • Input of vehicles for sale on Social Media Platforms.
  • Report to manager regarding objectives, planned activities, reviews and analyses.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Attends sales and departmental meetings.
  • Makes copies of correspondence or other printed matter.
  • Provide guidance and support to dealership Sales Associates as it relates to purchasing used vehicles.
  • Utilize AK automated inventory management system.
  • Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc. and their benefits to guests.
  • Maintain a follow-up system that encourages follow through with assigned project
  • Appraise used vehicles.
  • Approaches, greets, and interfaces with dealership customers to appraise and offer to purchase their current vehicles.
  • Introduces guest to sales department personnel to sell them a new vehicle after purchase of their existing vehicle.
  • Established personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
  • Maintains knowledge of basic Sales department information to act as a resource for incoming callers requesting such information.
  • Understand the terminology of the business and keep abreast of technology changes in the product.
  • Review and analyze actions at the end of each day, week, month, and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.
  • Knows and understands equity and values and is able to explain depreciation to the guest.
  • Attends product and sales training courses as requested by General Manager or Sales Managers.
  • Determine management, production, and quality requirements by asking questions and listening.
  • Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to guest satisfaction.
  • Attend Trade walks daily.
  • Files correspondence, and other records.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and a neat work area.
  • Knows and understands the federal, state, and local laws which govern retail automobile sales.
  • Reports to work on time every day as scheduled

MARGINAL DUTIES include the following.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Customers service and strong communication background
  • College Degree preferred but not required, High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in online buying and research preferred
  • Must be able to travel as business needs dictate
  • Previous auction and dealership selling or marketing experience
  • Excellent organizational skills, document accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be familiar with the auction process for buying and selling cars
  • Demonstrated knowledge using dealership management systems, web applications and consumer retail sites

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have valid Guam Driver’s License.

  • Must be able to walk long distance, sit, bend, squat, climb up and down stairs, reach, push, pull, stand for long periods of time.
  • Operate a wide variety of cars, light trucks, and vans with both manual and automatic transmission.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors for extended periods during work shift.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
