Job Description
Functional Responsibilities:
  • Attends meetings with local authorities, civic leaders, social scientists, and land planning and development specialists for the purpose of devising and recommending arrangements of land and physical facilities for residential, commercial, transportation, industrial, and community uses.
  • Gathers, compiles, and analyzes data on economic, social, and physical factors affecting land use and evaluates the data for forecasting.
  • Assists in researching, analyzing and determining potential impact of proposed legislation or policy issues.
  • Assists in preparing reports, graphics, composes correspondences regarding project activities and planning documents.
  • Assists in preparing, coordinating, and facilitating public involvement and consensus-building meetings and workshops.
  • Determines governmental measures affecting land use, public utilities, community facilities, housing, and transportation to control and guide community development and renewal.
  • Develops and maintains demographic databases.
  • Assists in developing generalized studies in support of new and updated plans, programs and regulations.
  • Researches economic, demographic, fiscal, legal and technical variances for project impact.
  • Conducts surveys, field evaluations, planning studies to include feasibility studies, and assessments.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Experience – No experience required. However, work with or in a municipal planning department or consulting firm desirable.
Education (Minimum) – Bachelor’s in Planning or Related Degree
