Job Description
Overview:
Responsible for performing all ultrasound procedures, interpreting scans for diagnostic quality, and maintaining the Ultrasound Unit and Trophon Unit.
Under the direction of a qualified physician and the Radiology Manager, responsible for performing ultrasound procedures and the operation of the unit on assigned shift as scheduled.
The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
Responsibilities:
Performs all ultrasound procedures.

Correlates the patient's clinical history and obtains pertinent diagnostic information.

Interprets scans for diagnostic quality.

Develops and maintains the skills required for new exams and equipment.

Prepares and instructs the patient for the procedure.

Reconciles acquires and processes images in the PACS settings.

Performs specialized ultrasound-guided biopsies.

Performs quality assurance checks as required.

Applies appropriate functions and applications within the Radiology Information System (RIS).

Maintains all records and daily log.

Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department and maintains a "CAN DO" attitude.

Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

Maintains accreditation of the ultrasound department by the ACR.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Skills and proficiency in the technical field of medical sonography. Such proficiency is acquired through an approved school for diagnostic ultrasound or an equivalent
which is accepted by the ARDMS or ARRT and CPR certified.

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

Registered or registry eligible in Diagnostic Sonography by the ARDMS or ARRT and CPR certified.
Registered in Vascular Ultrasound by ARDMS/ARRT/OR CCI within 1 year of employment by WTH.
Is proactive and ensure the availability of a current license, does not let the license lapse at the end of birth month. Notifies any known problems with their license immediately to the Radiology Manager.

EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of hospital, department, and Ultrasound Unit policies and procedures, equipment, record keeping, and regulations through a minimum of 24 months of experience in ultrasound.
