This position functions as the BETA Technologies Responsible Level III in Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) techniques. The ideal candidate is proficient in the Ultrasonic Method and will have extensive experience inspecting composites. This candidate will aid in developing the processes, procedures, and training of new technicians.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Establish and lead Ultrasonic NDI training program for other BETA team members to become Level I or Level II
  • Prepare, verify, and approve procedures and work instruction for technical adequacy.
  • Perform inspection on parts and assemblies using NDI standards and procedures for various advanced materials composite and metals as required.
  • Work with suppliers to evaluate and audit their manufacturing and testing processes.
  • Develop and maintain probes and tools for NDT use, train inspectors in the use and operation of equipment.
  • Establish processes, procedures, and training in conjunction with the engineering and inspection teams in accordance with aerospace requirements.
  • Work independently and support team members to perform other job-related tasks as needed and assigned by supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications we are seeking:

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Use of Google Suite and/or other business reporting tools
  • Proficient in the use of composites in aircraft structures and developing the techniques required to perform inspections used to determine that the material is free of defects.
  • Be capable of preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions.
  • When required by the written practice, be capable of auditing outside agencies to ensure the requirements are met.
  • Four-year degree in Engineering
  • Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Be capable of selecting the method and technique for a specific test.
  • At least 5 years of experience as Level III
  • Qualified to provide training, examination, and certification of personnel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other required documents that control the NDI method(s).
  • Level III NDI/NDT Certification to NAS410 and/or ASNT in at least one of the following methods: Liquid Penetrant (PT), Ultrasonic (UT), Radiography (RT), Shearography
  • Strong working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality operations
  • Experience in aerospace QA inspection in an AS9100/ISO9000 certified establishment.

Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:

  • Working knowledge of CAD software including Catia or Onshape
  • Familiarity with Olympus flaw detection equipment and software
  • Experience interfacing with ERP systems such as Plex
  • Experience working with a manufacturing team to develop new processes.
  • Experienced CWI
  • At least 5 years of experience with Ultrasonic NDI in aerospace manufacturing
  • Level III (per NAS410) certification in Shearography NDI
  • BSME, ASQ, ASNT, or Trade School Certification in NDI/NDT

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment using OSHA-required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift a minimum of 10 pounds.
