Key responsibilities:

The UX/UI Designer is responsible for working in partnership with the product team (including business owners, product management, business architecture, engineering, and co-designers) to solve complex user experience problems and articulate clear design requirements in a human-centered framework:

  • Create prototype concepts for communication with the business, to aid in sales demos, development, and usability studies.
  • Translate research insights into product ideas and solutions.
  • Present, articulate, and sell design ideas and recommendations to product management and business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other UX designers to translate requirements for use by Engineering colleagues.
  • Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into elegant design decisions based on data, trends, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in user research activities such as user interviews, surveys, usability studies, Competitive Analysis, and Market Research.
  • Represent the voice of the user(s) in business and product conversations and decisions.
  • Design style guides, user flows, wireframes, and pixel-perfect high-fidelity mockups at a high level and build out refined details.

UX & Design Team Member Responsibilities

  • Document and maintain user interface design specifications and templates.
  • Contribute to team standards for "what is good experience design" and design quality, including keeping our UI design pattern library up to date.
  • Be a valued, respected, and respectful representative of the User Experience & Design team.
  • Work in partnership with the engineering team to implement UI patterns and ensure visual consistency across all products and demos.


Qualifications

  • Experience creating process flows, user flows, prototypes, highly detailed wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups for early-stage ideas and complex web (enterprise and mobile preferred) applications.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule (4 days a week) in our Austin office
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in one of the creative arts, Digital Media, Human and Computer Interaction, Design Thinking, or equivalent work experience.
  • Effective communication of design decisions to team members, product managers, and clients.
  • Eagerness to learn and desire for feedback and continuously improving their design output.
  • B2B SaaS experience is a must
  • Appreciation of technical limits, scope, timeline, and budget, as needed constraints for successful design.
  • Core design skills: information architecture, UX documentation, visual communication, and hierarchy.
  • Portfolio of work that showcases examples of industry-standard user experience design work as well as the ability to design for complex business systems.
  • 2-5 years experience at an agency, product company, or startup in a design role



Preferred Skills

  • Ability to sketch and generate big-picture ideas for early-stage UX work.
  • Clear passion and enthusiasm for learning and pursuing.
  • An understanding of what makes an experience good or bad is critical; the ability to think through user problems translates into reasonable solution designs.
  • Ability to handle working on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to seek opportunities to solve problems in unusual and innovative ways.
  • Experience working with remote team members in different time zones.
  • Self-starter with strong time management skills and the ability to be self-directed.
  • Knowledge of the Agile software development process.
  • Experience using tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop, InVision or similar software for wireframing and light prototyping.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with product managers/architects/developers/engineers.
  • Experience designing from a UI design pattern library.
