Posting Summary
Utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus. Works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Frequently functions guided by nursing protocols. Functions as a team leader as assigned. Demonstrates competency in assessment and identification of the physical health of adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) all population groups and their personal strengths. Identifies inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives and implements prescribed interventions and solutions for the identified problems.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Certifications/Licenses
- License to practice in the State of New Jersey
- Valid Driver’s License is required
- CPR Certification required
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing ( BSN ) or its equivalent preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- As a first responder must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to lift and carry upstairs an emergency treatment bag that can weigh up to 45 pounds and assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
Special Conditions
- Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
- Must be approved by the Department of Corrections ( DOC ) and adhere to all DOC requirements. Employees will be subject to and must comply with all security regulations and procedures of NJ Department of Corrections
