Position Overview

In this role, you’ll drive a tanker to transport cement and oil from outlet plants to various concrete and asphalt plant locations. Each day will provide you with a different adventure. Wage:
$23-$26/hr DOE w/ potential for overtime.

Note: Wage scale for position is the full wage scale an individual can make based on performance, experience, and seniority throughout their time at the company.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operational order and report maintenance or repair issues.
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • If necessary, obtain chains from storage on the trailer and drape them on the drive wheels of the truck and fasten into place. Remove chains when roads are clear.
  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production.
  • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
  • Write entries in logbook: Noting freight hauled, destination, hours/miles driven and rest periods.
  • Maintain a safe work area and vehicle.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Ensure all hoses and clamps are safely secured, and that the material loaded is correct based on the instructions from the team.
  • Drive truck to loading location, monitoring various gauges during operation of vehicle.
  • High attention to detail to distinguish different types of materials. Discharging a product into the wrong cement silo is very costly.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Valid (CDL) Class A with interstate medical card.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Doubles/triples and tanker endorsement.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination and controlled substance testing.
  • Ability to operate manual transmission.
  • Ability to communicate using two-way radio.
  • Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.
  • Demonstrates the willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.

The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50-75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Our team will provide you with the proper PPE, but please bring your own pair of steel-toed boots.
