Job Description
Trek Travel provides global multi-day cycling vacations of a lifetime with the goal of helping more people explore and experience the world by bike. We are looking for an energetic and guest experience-oriented Trip Design Manager to join our team in Madison, Wisconsin. This key role focuses on developing the strategic business and product plans for Trek Travel. The Trip Design Manager position requires a mix of product and design management, project management, sales coordination, and team management. A successful Trip Design Manager will be both a high-level thinker, and detail-oriented who can analyze the business and make strategic decisions efficiently and effectively.

POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:  


LEADERSHIP:


  • Learn-It-All: Develop job knowledge and leadership skills by using available resources, reading professional materials, participating in learning opportunities.
  • Teamwork: Foster cross-departmental relationships across the company to help meet unified team goals.
  • Contribute information and recommendations to company’s strategic plans and reviews.
  • Prepare and complete action plans (OKR’s).


TEAM MANAGEMENT:


  • Monitor and communicate individual hours submissions, workload, and PTO (Paid Time Off) approvals.
  • Host regular one on one meetings with Trip Designers to execute objectives, key results, and oversee quality control.
  • Manage onboarding and training of all new teammates and in-year training as needed.
  • Develop annual goals and incentives for teams and individuals.
  • Manage people planning, including working with Human Resources on recruiting and hiring.
  • Contribute to a fun, inclusive, safe, and healthy work environment.
  • Mentoring team members to understand and deliver their full potential.
  • Manage, recruit, hire, schedule and train a dynamic global team of trip designers and additional project workers.
  • Create a great place to work and foster the Trek Travel culture.
  • We need the BEST TEAM ON THE FIELD – you hold people accountable and are comfortable coaching people ‘up or out’ to make sure we maintain a high performing Trip Design team.
  • Conducts continuous improvement feedback and performance evaluations that is timely and constructive.
  • Complete quarterly team member performance reviews.


OTHER:


  • Post trip, ensuring that all Guide trip documents are properly updated.
  • Analyze feedback and implement changes for future trips based on Guide and Guest feedback.
  • Work closely with Trek Travel Marketing team.
  • Maintain all rooming lists for our hotels, including regular updates to hotels and Sales staff.
  • Department and product budget management.
  • Negotiate and contract hotels and subcontractors for the trips.
  • Trip budget creation and management and work with the accounting department to manage costs, projections, and profit margins.
  • Develop and distribute monthly/yearly results and analytics.
  • Coordinate across departments to execute trip schedule.
  • Manage and maintain trip data across all marketing and sales platforms.
  • Coordinating with the Sales staff to maintain and manage room counts at hotels.
  • Prepare documents for Guides prior to the trips and be prepared to answer questions and deliver information to Guides.
  • Work with the Director of Guide Operations on Guide schedule.
  • Coordinate the preparation of sales information for trips and all guest information on the website itinerary.
  • Coordinate product launch across all departments.
  • Regional management of trips as a Trip Designer as needed. The Trip Designer Role entails, but not limited to:
  • Create and analyze feedback, systems, and processes to ensure product excellence.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Product Management, Hospitality Management or Project Management.
  • BA or BS required.
  • Product Management, People Management, Understanding the Customer, Product Development, Requirements Analysis, Pricing, Planning, Competitive Analysis, Sales Planning, Inventory Control, Financial Planning, Independent and Creative Thinking, Collaborating, Negotiating, Strategic Analysis, Process Management, Strong organizational skills with a focus on detail.
  • Communicate, present and influence effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of the travel and cycling industry, highly desirable.
  • Takes initiative to continuously improve processes and is solution oriented.
  • You exude fun and flexibility while contributing to the overall success of your Team.
  • You have a positive, solution-oriented attitude and always ask “How can I help?”
  • You believe in the importance of hospitality and customer service, recognizing that customers are all around.
  • Expert attention to detail, efficiency and works with a sense of urgency.
