$2,119 per week
Weekly Pay Range - $1908 To $2119Position Summary:
  • A Registered Nurse provides professional nursing services and patient care in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Progressive care nursing jobs involve care for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment, but who aren`t unstable enough to need ICU care.
  • PCU nurses monitor cardiac and other critical vital signs and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations.
RN Progressive Care Unit Duties And Responsibilities
  • Severe pneumonia.
  • Stroke.
  • PCU nurses monitor cardiac and other critical vital signs and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations.
  • Epsis or other serious or systemic infection.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and methods of implementation. Practices within the limits of the state's Nurse Practice Act and health care facility and nursing administrative policies.
  • Supervises ancillary personnel in their performance of assigned job-related duties.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality and the rights of the patient.
  • Progressive care nursing jobs involve care for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment, but who aren't unstable enough to need ICU care.
  • The PCU nurse is sometimes also called a step-down nurse and the PCU is also known as cardiac step-down, medical step-down, neuro step-down, surgical step-down and ER holding.
  • Initiates and revises the patient`s plan of care based on continuing assessments.
  • Includes patient teaching and discharge planning in overall plan of care.
  • Incorporates clinical and technical aspects of care with nursing actions and interventions in accordance with established policies, standards and procedures.
  • Cancer or orthopedic surgery.
  • Maintains and updates skills needed for excellence in patient care.
  • Provides nursing care to critically ill patients.
  • Many PCU patients receive complex medications that may require titration based on the patients vital signs.
  • Heart attack, defibrillator or pacemaker implant or other cardiac condition.
  • Documents nursing interventions and patient response according to hospital policy.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Evidence of Minimum Two years of current hospital experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, with current licensure in state practicing in good standing in the state of practice
  • Evidence of current BLS and ACLS credential mandatory.
