SCOPE OF POSITION
The Trauma Registrar is responsible for collecting specific data elements from patient medical records of identified trauma patients treated for the Trauma Database, as well as internal customers for use in Performance Improvement, Peer Review, Accreditation, and other improvement efforts.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
See Table of Organization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in a clinical healthcare field preferred. Minimum three years experience in an acute hospital setting required. Requires strong familiarity with patient record content and format. Also must be knowledgeable concerning medical and billing procedures. Must possess strong computer skills in Microsoft Office; utilize CPT and ICD-9 coding system, and knowledge of medical billing procedures. CITI training is recommended. The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Trauma Registrar Course with certification is preferred.
