The Transporter safely moves patients to and from hospital areas and the Imaging Services Department in a wheelchair or on a stretcher cart for various imaging examinations and procedures while providing compassionate and attentive patient care.

- Support the School of Radiology educational process.
- Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.
- Promptly transports patient to destination and notifies patient arrival to designated individual.
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment and workspace and reports equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
- The associate is aware of hospital and department compliance for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or hospital administrative staff.
- Communicate with School of Radiology faculty on student-related progress and issues.
- For the safety of our patients and co-workers, St. Luke’s Hospital requires seasonal and job related vaccinations. This is reviewed regularly during periodic health assessments.
- Understand requirements for student supervision as outlined in the Student Supervision policy.
- Perform patient transfers with approved transfer mobility equipment when appropriate.
- Maintain current knowledge of School of Radiology policies, procedures and student progress.
- Safely transports patients to and from hospital areas and departments utilizing proper equipment (wheelchair or cart) appropriate to the patient’s condition and lifting techniques.
- Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- Previous patient care experience is preferred.

- Consults with other community agencies and significant others involved with consumers/clients to live in the least restrictive setting.
- Is aware of department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (eg. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or administrative staff.
- Recognizes and reports the therapeutic actions and side effects of medications.
- Recognizes early symptoms of physical and mental illness, and performs appropriate interventions and/or referrals in accordance of an identified crisis plan.
- Provides skills training in the areas of social, leisure, vocational, interpersonal and community living.
- Develops with consumer measurable goals and establishes service plans based on consumer needs and desires.
- Advocates for consumer/client rights and choices in obtaining needed services.
- Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory sessions and in-services.
- Performs additional duties as may be assigned to ensure complete service to all customers.
- Participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating programming within the CBS Services.
- Completes psychiatric and functional assessments, identifying strengths and needs.
- Provides psychological/supportive counseling with consumers/clients and their families on site or in the community.
- Demonstrates a positive cooperative attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to change to meet department goals.
