Transporter Jobs

The incumbent in this position escorts patients and transports items between patient units and ancillary departments. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
Education

• High School Diploma or GED required or
• The equivalent GED. required

Experience

• Previous hospital or patient care experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Maintains a safe environment for patients during all phases of transportation.
• Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be considered as all-inclusive.
• Obtains supplies/equipment/medications, as needed, from appropriate departments and transports to nursing units.

• Utilizes communication devices (bellboy, walkie-talkie) to respond to requests for service, and maintains all devices in proper working condition at all times.
• Communicates appropriate information to patients, staff, and visitors.
• Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities.
