The Transportation Yard Supervisor is directly responsible for leading a team of Harbor Freight Yard Drivers and Harbor Freight Yard Management System Clerks as well as driving cost reduction and manpower efficiencies. This position will also work closely with multiple internal depts. with regards to Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Morale strategies to drive optimization and service performance.

Communication
- Primary contact point for driver call offs, medical related early leaves, etc.
- Communicate, in all necessary forms, to HFT Yard Drivers and HFT Yard Management System Clerks including but not limited to: process changes, process improvements, corrective actions, disciplinary actions, policy changes, etc.
- Communicate YMS issues to HFT local and corporate management teams
- Communicate all DOT rules and regulations to Yard Driver Fleet
- Communicate, in all necessary forms, any issues and opportunities that require HFT Management attention
- Verify all HFT Yard Driver paperwork and logs have been turned in
- Track driver safety initiatives
- Log all maintenance shed usages of fluids and any other equipment
- Ensure 100% compliance for HFT Yard Drivers to local, state, and federal DOT laws
- Maintain all necessary licensing for HFT Yard Equipment
- Download fuel and engine data from HFT Yard Trucks (if applicable)
- Pre-Approve Kronos time for all HFT Yard Drivers and HFT YMS Admin Clerks
- Review all HFT Yard related invoices from vendors and forward to HFT Transportation Manager for payment approval

- Perform regular trailer audits
- Coordinate and follow up on all HFT Yard maintenance related items
- Monitor productivity of HFT Yard Driver Fleet
- Perform regular HFT Yard Equipment checkups to ensure compliance to SQCDM initiatives
- Report safety observations, accidents, and incidents to site EHS Manager
- Coordinate driver physicals and random drug screens with HFT HR Dept
- Provide coverage for both Yard Driver and YMS Admin Clerks when necessary
- Perform YMS Training for HFT Yard Driver Fleet and HFT YMS Admin Clerks
- Perform operational training for HFT Yard Drivers and HFT YMS Admin Clerks (Onboarding)
- Monitor productivity of HFT YMS Admin Clerks
- Report HFT Yard related maintenance expenses
- Report HFT Yard Driver Maintenance related fluid consumption
- Report HFT Yard Driver utilization
- Provide any and all necessary reports to HFT Transportation Manager and other HFT Management team members
- Report any required HFT YMS Admin Clerical report functions
- Report HFT Yard Driver productivity
- Report HFT Yard Driver fuel consumption
- Report hourly usage of HFT Yard Trucks
- Supervisory Responsibility- Direct: Non-Exempt Employees

The candidate must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices, without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $72,000-$84,700 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 120 hours per year and paid sick time up to 80 hours per year unless otherwise required by law. The Company observes two (2) Company paid holidays. Associates earn up to 64 hours as additional Floating Holidays.
- Ability to analyze raw data to drive utilization and productivity efficiencies
- Class A CDL (preferred, but not necessary)
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical and project management skills required to effectively lead and manage direct subordinate employees and multi-layer function
- Ability to participate as a team-member as well as leader in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
- High business acumen, leadership, planning and organization
- Understand and manage peak season storage requirements for each distribution facility in collaboration with Manager of Transportation, ports, carriers, and clearance teams.
- Advanced knowledge of a fast-paced Distribution Yard Management operation
- Experience with a Yard Management System (YMS)
- Demonstrated progressive experience and accomplished efficiencies in managing a fast paced Distribution Center Yard Transportation and/or Logistics operation.
- Preferred B.A./B.S. in business, global logistics, or other related studies or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in relevant field including minimum of 3-5 years in a transportation management role.
Physical Requirements
General office environment requiring ability to:
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- On occasion, when necessary, ability to fill in for HFT yard drivers and/or YMS System Admin Clerks
- Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time
- Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone
- Use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports
