Job Description

Valiant is seeking skilled Linguists to provide translation services in support of ongoing and new U.S. operations and mission requirements.


*This position is contingent upon contract award*


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce satisfactory translations which adhere to NVTC Language Quality Program standards, policies, and
  • Complete and maintain currency on all mandatory government training.
  • Leverage HLT and/or Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools utilized by NVTC when working onsite to standardize terminology and increase efficiency.
  • Produce grammatically correct and logical communications, including detailed data gathered during translation and/or interpretation work which explained the presence of multiple meanings and/or refer to previously gathered
  • Provide translation from the source language into English or from English into a target language. The material may be in document, audio, or video format. Linguists shall not be able to question the speaker(s)/writer(s) as to the meaning, terminology, or significance of
  • Perform quality reviews based on NVTC quality review policy and procedures of material produced by another Contractor Linguist for accuracy and completeness, as requested by the Government.
  • Complete administrative reporting, such as a daily log of productivity metrics, as required by the Government.
  • Utilize knowledge of culture, current world affairs, and data provided by NVTC or other government personnel to facilitate translations and interpretations.
  • If the translated material is being used for court purposes, Contractor Linguists shall be required to testify in court as to the accuracy of the translations, at the discretion of the federal government.
  • Provide cultural/language/ethnic/contextual analysis of data translated from recorded and written
  • Possess sufficient computer skills, such as word processing and data entry, to include the ability to type in English and the tested foreign language; at a minimum should be familiar with and able to use Microsoft Office

Location: Multiple CONUS locations

Position Requirements
  • Identification of the language in a textual, audio, or visual source file.
  • Local and mission-critical travel outside the U.S. may be required.
  • Other related tasks tied to NVTC’s mission.
  • Linguists shall be responsible for translating all manner of materials, and within a broad range of subject matter.
  • Complete and accurate rendering of source material into a grammatically and colloquially correct product in the target language. The translation will be from a foreign language source into English or from an English source into a foreign target
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Linguists placed in an FBI facility shall obtain an active Top Secret security clearance and, in some cases, SCI. A CI polygraph is required for all contractor personnel placed in FBI facilities.
  • Linguists shall score a three (3) rating in reading and listening on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale in the foreign language and a three (3) rating in English. Linguists shall also complete the FBI’s Foreign Language Test Battery (FLTB) and provide a sample translation, for which NVTC will provide the source
