Position Summary

The Tour guide position is responsible for delivering the highest caliber of knowledge about our Historic space, engaging visitors throughout the duration of the tour and provide expert customer service to all who enter our space.


Major Areas of Responsibilities

  • Provide information and assistance at the main entry, notifying staff of visitors and directing tour guests throughout our space.
  • Scan guests’ tickets, ensuring ticket is valid for tour time and date.
  • Provide assistance with patrons’ special needs, such as helping those with wheelchairs.
  • Greet and escort within the theatre in an efficient and friendly manner.
  • Pro-actively attend to guest’s questions, and supply information regarding the Theatre’s history including architecture, culture, and local history.
  • Memorize tour script and adjust to any updates and revision without disruption in performance or operation.
  • Guide patrons to exits or provide other instructions/assistance in case of emergency.
  • Set up tour related displays (i.e signage, posters, easels, etc.).
  • Track patron attendance and other tour related information.
  • Addressing and working with groups of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Be familiar with Chicago history. Expand personal scope of knowledge of Roosevelt University Campus history and continue to expand knowledge base.
  • Welcome guest to the Theatre in an upbeat, positive, professional, and friendly manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold theatre safety and security protocol.
Requirements:

Experience

  • 0-2 years

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent Time Management skills
  • Active commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA)
  • Required to stand for long periods of time and walk up/down steps
  • Excellent verbal and presentational skills
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including evening, weekend and Holiday hours
  • Knowledge and experience within a large Theatre environment
  • Strong spirit of optimism and collaboration.
  • Comfortable with heights
  • Experience with public speaking
