Ramapo College is currently operating under the RamaPro model which is a pilot program allowing for a remote component to work schedules where operations support that model


This is a full-time, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Note: This position is in the “NL” category of employment (non-fixed work week) An AFT- NL professional staff member or librarian who is required to work beyond 35 hours shall be compensated through compensatory time off. Compensatory time shall be earned for hours worked beyond the normal work week, or on an employee’s regular day off, if requested and approved by their supervisor.

Job Summary


Under the supervision of the Director of Title IX, ADA & Compliance Training, the Equity and Compliance Coordinator will play a significant role in monitoring and coordinating compliance with Title IX and federal, state and College affirmative action and equal employment opportunity laws, policies, regulations and related statutes and guidelines.


Duties/Responsibilities


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for the investigation and resolution of student and employee Title IX, Title VII and state discrimination, harassment, hostile work environment and sexual misconduct complaints.


Prepares reports of investigations in a timely manner and makes recommendations on dispositions in accordance with established policies and procedures.


  • Serve as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator, which includes reviewing investigation summaries, analyzing witness statements and making recommendations on dispositions, including recommending sanctions as appropriate.
  • Partners with POER and other college units to educate College committees, student groups and individuals as to AA/EEO policies by conducting workshops, seminars or meetings.
  • Safe guards the confidentiality of information and exercises discretion with confidential information.
  • Responsible for federal and state reporting requirements and related statistical analysis.
  • Assists the Director of Title IX, ADA & Compliance Training with developing training materials and carrying out trainings for search committees for unclassified searches in order to disseminate EEO/AA guidelines and procedures.
  • Preside over the Title IX hearing process on an as-needed basis as the Hearing Chair on Title IX matters involving College students and/or employees.
  • Establish rapport with students from a wide array of identities, backgrounds, experiences and perspectives to perform effectively in a diverse campus community.
  • Coordinates and works with the Department of People Operations and Employee Resources (POER) and the Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Coordinator with regard to Affirmative Action recruitment activities and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Title IX, ADA & Compliance Training.

Additional Skills, Knowledge And Abilities


  • Ability to work independently, yet function within a team.
  • Working knowledge of issues related to Title IX and non-discrimination statutes and regulations is required.
  • Knowledge of best practices as they relate to institutions of higher education compliance with Title IX and VAWA is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community is required.
  • Ability to manage an ongoing and complex caseload.


Education/Experience


REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION


  • Graduation from an accredited College or University with a Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. Relevant work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours is considered one year of College).
  • A Master’s degree is preferred.


Experience


  • Minimum of 1 year of experience conducting investigations in alleged discrimination and/or sexual assault is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience is required.


Experience in and awareness of the sensitivity required when interacting with and addressing the needs of a diverse community on sensitive topics.
