Job Description
Job Title: Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator


Location: CSOSA Re-entry and Sanctions Center (RSC) located at 1900 Massachusetts Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20003.


Job Type : Full -Time


Objective:


The primary objective of this position is to facilitate therapeutic recreational group sessions that empower RSC residents with the skills and techniques needed to enhance their physical, cognitive, and social functioning. These abilities will aid them in addressing common re-entry barriers.


Key Responsibilities:


Task 1 – Therapeutic Recreational Group Sessions:


  • Conduct sessions on two different days, with four back-to-back sessions per day, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Modify group topics or delivery frequency as needed.
  • Lead sessions with 6 to 12 participants per session.
  • Design sessions with clearly stated objectives and goals, including activities such as calisthenics, stretching, relaxation techniques, and more.
  • Coordinate sessions in designated areas on the RSC campus.
  • Provide eight on-site group sessions per week, with up to one hour per session.
  • Address concerns or problems arising during sessions immediately with appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure each resident receives credit for participation through sign-in sheets.


Task 2 - Reporting Requirement:


  • Notify appropriate personnel of any safety concerns or emergencies.
  • Enter group session progress notes into the Government's case management system within one business day following each session.
  • Maintain accurate records of session topics, attendance, and resident participation.


Personnel Requirements:


  • Possess relevant certifications as a Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) specializing in specific therapies.
  • Provide prime and backfill therapists as required.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or lawfully permitted to reside in the U.S. with a valid work permit.
  • Clear the CSOSA background investigation.


Physical Standards:


  • Physically capable of performing job duties.
  • Mandatory testing for Tuberculosis, annual immunizations, and CPR certification.
  • Compliance with drug testing requirements.
