About The Role....


The Teller Position is a multi-faceted position with primary responsibilities in both the Teller and Member Service areas. The expectations of this job are to build member relationships by providing excellent service and offering products that meet member's needs. The employee must be able to accurately perform receipt and/or disbursement of funds for members, as well as supplying information on services or accounts. Responsible for accurate cash handling and daily balancing of cash drawer. Presents and explains Credit Union services and products for cross sell opportunities.


The position handles routine account maintenance such as change of address, adding, reconciling checking accounts, home banking and payroll issues. Be familiar with problem solving for debit card and online banking member issues. Participates in all Credit Union promotional activities. Shares responsibility for ensuring confidentiality of member information and professional delivery of quality service. This high contact position requires the ability to communicate effectively. Must be able to positively represent the Credit Union.


What You'll Do....


  • Responsible for compliance to all BSA policies, procedures and regulations within area of responsibility.
  • Handle all member account maintenance including but not limited to address changes, checking account reconciliation, stop payments, home banking and payroll issues.
  • Place check orders through online vendor website.
  • Interface with members in person or by phone in a professional, friendly, and helpful manner (i.e. greet them, maintain eye contact when possible, and offer additional credit union products and services whenever appropriate). Provides general information to members about Credit Union products and services. For assistance beyond the scope of this position, may direct members to other departments.
  • Orders daily cash for their drawer from vault and verifies amount. Encodes checks and prepares deposit for inclusion with branch deposit recap, including the filming of checks and daily work.
  • Operates teller terminal and processes transactions directly related to the receipt and disbursement of funds. Accurately balances drawer cash fund to related vouchers and data processing log within time allowed.
  • Processes mail and night deposit transactions.
  • Processes all transactions accurately and efficiently including deposits, withdrawals, certified/teller checks, bond redemptions, money orders, credit card payments, VISA cash advances, pension and direct deposit forms and basic member inquiries.
  • Assure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and security of work areas, desk, and equipment. Stocks work area with supplies and maintains current product and rate information for cross-selling.
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws, rules, controls, and regulations both internal and external.
  • Balances Money Orders, and Savings Bonds. Prepares reports for these items.


The Knowledge, Skills And Abilities You'll Need....


  • Strong knowledge of credit union services
  • Willingness and ability to substitute at other local branches if requested.
  • High School Degree
  • Previous cash handling and customer service experience required
  • Must possess strong, positive interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively
  • Prefer a minimum of one year of credit union or banking teller experience
  • Demonstrate strong keyboarding skills
  • Ability to cross-sell Credit Union products at every opportunity
  • Knowledge of basic math skills
  • Ability to accomplish all tasks in a timely manner
  • Accurate data entry and cash handling procedures
