The Primary / Urgent Care Physician works as part of an inter-professional team to provide efficient, high quality, cost effective care in telemedicine. The physician obtains patient history and performs assessments using interview, observation and physical examination and provides direct patient care and management of health conditions utilizing prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers. Participates in quality improvement initiatives, patient and patient caregiver education and assumes responsibility for professional development.

Education

  • Medical Doctor/ D.O.

Work Experience

  • Required – None
  • Preferred – 1 years’ related working experience

Technical requirements

  • Must have reliable internet and computer hardware

Certifications

  • Medical License (LA and MS Preferred)
  • Louisiana DEA license
  • Board Certified Medical Doctor (FP, EM, Internal Med- Peds)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including weekend and holiday coverage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Must have HIPAA compliant office space with high speed internet and computer with webcam.

Job Duties

  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Utilizes the approved medical practices process in the delivery of all patient care.
  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas, including pediatric and geriatric populations
  • Provides training and education to staff, including new APPs and students.
  • Maintains an attitude of inquiry towards medical practices and patient care outcomes and may develop research methodology.
