Job Description

TITLE: TAILOR

The Tailor is responsible for the handling, distribution, inventory, exchange and repair of Team Member uniforms. The Tailor performs a variety of operational tasks to support the execution of uniform repairs and alterations, including the hemming of uniform shirts, pants, suits, and repair of zippers, replacement of buttons, and repair of torn uniforms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
  • Interact and assist Team Members, all department heads, and vendors in a polite and professional manner at all times.
  • Assist with ordering and tracking uniforms, shoes, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Must attend and be certified in all applicable trainings required.
  • Assist with maintaining Team Member lockers.
  • Prepare various reports, charts, memos, correspondence, and spreadsheets.
  • Record all work and follow through on the garment tacking system or an alteration log.
  • Attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, evenings, and weekends, based upon business needs.
  • Record required alterations and instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • Work in assigned area of production responsibility as scheduled in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Verify with supervisor that all inventory received is in fact the item ordered with reference to quality, quantity, consistency and cost.
  • Repair, track, and maintain Team Member uniforms.
  • Prepare and maintain departmental inventory for all uniform related items in garment tracking system.
  • Remove stitches from garment, using ripper or razor blade.
  • Measure and mark alteration lines.
  • Pin altering folds or mark on cloth at seam to indicate alterations in progress.
  • Wash, dry, and iron all applicable uniforms.
  • Maintain filing system pertaining to out-going and in-coming uniforms and shoes.
  • Resew uniforms using needle and thread or sewing machine.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and stocked work area and inform a supervisor when additional supplies are needed.
  • Notify Team Members when uniforms are available to be picked up in a timely manner.
  • Press uniforms and various outlet tablecloths, using a hand iron or steamer.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and guest service skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a gaming license through the Tule River Tribe Gaming Commission.
  • Must have intermediate knowledge of, and be able to use various sewing machines, washers, dryers, and irons.
  • Must have at minimum, two (2) years’ experience as a seamstress/semester, and/or tailor.
  • Computer literate with emphasis on Microsoft suite.
  • Must have clerical skills with excellent organization abilities.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the handling and use of cleaning chemicals.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Noise level is low to moderate in the uniform room.
  • Must be able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The noise level is usually moderate, increasing to loud when using equipment, or on the casino floor.
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Repeatedly required to reach with hands, arms and use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Exposure to cigarette smoke, bells, ringing, and flashing lights when on the casino floor.
  • Must be able to work in a noisy and humid filled environment.

None

HOURS: The casino operates 24/7. Schedule, shift, and hours will vary

SALARY: $/hr. / weekly pay / overtime eligible
