Job Description
Position Summary: This position will provide onsite technical assistance, training, guided practice and follow-up support to district and Intermediate Unit staff in the areas identified by PDE IDEA initiatives. Required Qualifications: Active and valid PA Instructional Certification Three to five years of classroom experience Desired Qualifications: PA Special Education Certification Master's Degree Experience providing professional development Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Maintain and disseminate information on research-based best practices and interventions for use with all students. Adapt, modify, and align existing school district curriculum to meet the needs of students or specific populations. Facilitate teams using data-based, decision-making models. Provide workshops and consultations to develop and expand district skills in curriculum, i.e., modifying the list of instructional objectives in terms of methods and materials, as well as the procedures for evaluation. Maintain and disseminate up-to-date information on Federal and State regulations, standards, statutes, and other requirements. Provide technical assistance, training, guided practice, and consultation to school districts, intermediate units, families, and local agencies in one or more of the following as appropriate: Positive behavioral support Inclusive Practices: Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)/Response to Intervention (Rt I)

Performance Factors/Job Competencies: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to utilize multimedia and computer technology, as appropriate, for staff development and supervisory tasks. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Knowledge of state and federal law that impacts on special education operations within the IU, as well as content, curriculum, methods, materials and policies of the schools in which staff supervised are assigned. Ability to develop and maintain required records and reports. Must have verbal skills to communicate effectively with the public. Must be able to travel to and from IU sites and other sites within Pennsylvania. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with community and state agency staff. Skill in working with adults in learning, planning, and development environments in order to accomplish a goal. Ability to analyze and work with others to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs. Ability to identify resources to assist school staff in accomplishing instructional and administrative goals. Knowledge of and ability to apply adult and staff development learning best practices in individual, small, and large group situations. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office and educational environment. Incumbent must be able to both sit at a desk for extended periods of time and stand for extended periods of time. This role routinely uses office equipment with a majority of the time utilizing computers to complete daily tasks. This position requires traveling within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Candidates are required to have transportation and valid driver's license to attend job related duties, meetings, seminars, and trainings.
