Job Description

Purpose:
UPMC Shadyside is hiring a full-time Training and Development Specialist for its Environmental, Food and Nutrition Services departments to oversee the planning, organizing, and training of new hires and existing staff, follow departmental standards regarding onboarding and training expectations, in accordance to provide quality nutrition, food and clean and safe environmental services to patients, visitors and staff. The hours of this position are typically between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. but can vary depending on departmental needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Training Manager with all aspects of curriculum development for future and proposed training programs.
  • Assist with retention and engagement initiatives.
  • Perform AIDET+Promise, Support Coach Support and No Pass Zone validations of staff twice a year.
  • Assist with design, development, maintenance, and management of training and other learning events/programs.
  • Organize and conduct safety training seminars for EVS staff.
  • Assist with Department wide Recruitment efforts with screening, scheduling and conducting of interviews.
  • Improve engagement by meeting with The Main Ingredient Team to develop quarterly editions of staff newsletter.
  • Provide Training and Development assistance through training coordination and scheduling.
  • Train leaders to conduct all new hire orientation and follow ups, including 30/60/90-day touch points to ensure effective employee retention.
  • Attend department meetings with Environmental, Food and Nutrition teams, involving the training program.
  • Assists in conducting Peer Interviews and Job Shadowing.
  • Creation and implementation of Awards Program and Ceremony, as well as support established EVS Awards Ceremony and other departmental events.
  • Communicate with department leadership on the progress of new hire training, during training process.
  • Mentoring Program Support through event coordination and scheduling.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and assist with action plan creation to improve the overall training process.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and management skills.
  • Relevant leadership experience required.
  • Two years relevant experience in a Health Care setting required.
  • Travel required to other facilities. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran

  • Moderate computer experience.
