Our work depends on Systems Engineer Advisor joining our team to support the United States Postal Service (USPS) activities located in Raleigh, NC. Some telecommuting is supported
HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Scripting (batch files, VBScript, PowerShell) and working knowledge of Active Directory- Group Policy (GPO), DNS, DHCP, and SCCM / MECM / Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
  • When appropriate, provide the technical resources necessary to install application software
  • Provide diagnosis, investigation, recovery, and resolution of various types of hardware problems and software issues.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware to resolve issues arising due to Windows 10 Operating system
  • Provide clarification on business requirements and technical design issues
  • When appropriate, provide test data from existing legacy system test databases to test system interfaces
  • Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education:

A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field is required; An equivalent combination of education or experience in computer or telecommunications architectures, systems analysis, and management of information technology may be substituted

  • Required Experience: 10 years of related experience with Six (6) years of experience progressively working with the more difficult aspects of Windows with two (2) years of experience in the last three (3) years in planning, architecting, developing, testing, and implementing PC LANs
  • Required Technical Skills:
  • Strong experience with Desktop Image creation/deployment process using MDT and SCCM / MECM (Image creation, image deployments, configuration file creation and management, packaging, primary contact to stakeholders and vendor partners for deployments)
  • Working knowledge of state-of-the-art LAN systems hardware, software techniques, and concepts including OSI model, repeaters, bridges, routers, gateways, TCP/IP, SNMP protocols, IEEE Ethernet, network security technologies and cable standards
  • Scripting (batch files, VBScript, PowerShell) and working knowledge of Active Directory- Group Policy (GPO), DNS, DHCP, and SCCM / MEMCM
  • Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Other Windows related Engineering activities as requested by USPS from time to time during the Period of Performance
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to formulate and document proposed LAN system and operating system solutions with comprehensive, quantitative, and qualitative terms appropriate for comparative analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with hardware and software testing, integration, installation, configuration, and problem solving; especially for Windows 7/10 clients and Windows Server, and Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of encryption process using Windows BitLocker or WinMagic SecureDoc
  • Able to create, image, image deployments, configuration file creation, and management, packaging, primary contact to stakeholders and vendor partners for deployments
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to design, install, implement, support, and troubleshoot Microsoft’s BackOffice, Windows server, SCCM server, Terminal Server, Site Server, Remote Access Server, DHCP, WINS, and DNS
  • Strong attention to detail and requirements
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow ticketing system
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated team player
  • Able to diagnose, investigate, recover, and resolve various types of hardware problems and software issues, primary L3 Support for desktop
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to provide advanced support for all production failures as assigned and support and comply with company problem management standards and processes
  • Ability to conduct peer review of code, design test plans, and base performance validation
  • An MCSE is highly desired
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability to test and debug HTML, CSS, JavaScript and scripting
  • Ability to evaluate, plan, manage, track, and provide status on system maintenance, enhancement, and support activities at a task level
  • Ability to design, develop, and improve scripts; Implementation of test plans for all program changes
