The Sustainability & Environmental Social Governance (ESG) team leads development and execution of sustainability and ESG initiatives at Toast. We guide our company’s overall sustainability strategy and management and ESG disclosures, including our climate strategy and greenhouse gas inventory and waste reduction initiatives. Toast’s efforts are championed and executed by our executive ESG Leadership team and cross-functional ESG Committee. We work closely with Toast.org, our social impact arm, and the team developing new products for our customers and their guests to contribute to sustainability and social impact.

• Assess and recommend areas of opportunity based on industry ratings standards
• You’ll get an unprecedented opportunity to contribute to building this work.
• Research efforts to advance collaboration in priority areas of interest
• Learn about industry ESG and sustainability best practices through conducting a benchmarking analysis
• Prepare for future ESG assessments by preparing responses for ESG ratings surveys
• Participate in our climate goal setting process

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

• Knowledge of the basic concepts of ESG/sustainability
• Passion for the role business can play in fostering a more sustainable and equitable world
• Ability to work independently and remotely
• Preferred:
• Eager to contribute your unique point of view
• Experience working in Google docs, sheets, etc.
• Passion for the restaurant industry
• Excellent project management skills - your lay out plans, keeping people informed of progress and challenges, and looking ahead to anticipate what’s needed
• Self-starter and ambitious learner who is comfortable with ambiguity
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced and virtual environment
• Team player who takes initiative and guidance, speaks up, and works collaboratively
• Strong judgment, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills, with a keen attention to detail
• Flexibility to re-prioritize or pivot and try a different approach as needed
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree

The starting pay rate for this role is below. Please note, there is not a range for this role, the number listed below is the rate.
Pay Rate
$22—$22 USD
