We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker to join our Service in Norton Stockton on a part time permanent basis, (30 hours per week).

Staffing is generally two on per shift, Shifts are varied and include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and waking nights covering 7 days a week including weekends and bank holidays.

You will be working in our Supported Living Service helping to support a gentlemen both in the home and in the community. Our team promotes person centred support and positive behavioural support when supporting people with complex needs.

This gentleman requires certain levels of support with personal care daily. He has good communication skills and clearly makes his needs known. He likes to use pictorial planning for his daily activities.

We have support plans that offer information on how he likes to be supported in most aspects of his life which, identify who, and what is important to him.

What does a Support Worker do?

Typical Responsibilities May Include

As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life. You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally caring and patient personality.

• Excellent communication skills and Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
• Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day. This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom. Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
• Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom
• Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
• Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
