What you'll do:
  • Support program, product development, and engineering groups covering key QA requirements.
  • Craft metrics for the measurement of Suppliers Quality to enable a data driven quality framework to accurately depict supplier health from a risk perspective.
  • Team with supply chain to drive strategic goals that support business area needs
  • Ensure Internal and Supplier compliance by performing capability auditing and assessments
  • Use quality improvement tools such as 8D, Six-Sigma, Kaizen and metric management and reporting.
  • Proactively identify important issues in support of company objectives with recommendations for improvement.
  • Own partnership relationships with suppliers to drive their ownership of quality and joint resolution of issues and innovation. Ensure supplier process provides prompt resolution and robust solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Represent QA team with internal and external customers regarding QA requirements and outputs in formal and informal settings.
  • Ensure Product Quality Planning is deployed across the New Product Development Life Cycle with quality built into the design. Champion production validation and risk mitigation tools with suppliers with tools like Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) deliverables.
  • Primary POC for; Internal review meetings, Project Management Reviews, and liaison with Suppliers QA teams supporting current and future contracts

The day-to-day:
  • Plan and conduct supplier audits.
  • Craft metrics and presentations for all levels of the organization
  • Plan and conduct supplier development activities.
  • Address Non-Conformances utilizing an 8D methodology.
  • Identify process improvements and drive corrective and developmental activities.
  • Up to 35% travel required
  • Work with Supply Chain, Quality Control, Engineering, and Program Management to ensure incoming material meets product specifications.
What you'll need:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field
  • US citizenship required
  • Ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally
  • 7+ years as a Quality Engineer with experience in a space, aerospace and/or defense environment including design with production implementation
  • Working knowledge of satellite communication systems
What will help you on the job:
  • Understanding of satellite communication systems, RF components, cabling, electromechanical, welding, fabrications, painting & plating.
  • Significant interaction with customers supporting programs from bid to completion
  • Working knowledge of antenna systems
  • Strong analytical, communication and interaction skills
  • Experience in interpreting contract conditions covering quality requirements and quality planning
  • Successfully worked with suppliers and/or subcontractors implementing corrective actions and improvements
Salary range: $85,400.00 - $140,800.00 / annually : At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
